It’s lodge night, we pull up to the lodge and see it defaced, vandalized and disrespected. It’s a problem we’ve notice becoming a common issue that lodges all over the United States have been making reports of. Tuesday June 13, 2017 was a normal lodge night. After work the brethren of the lodge made their way out to share in brotherhood and fellowship but this day would be different. We drove up to lodge to see the buildings signs crossed out with yellow spray paint. Broken fragments of the lettering that make up our wall sign lay shattered and pulled directly from the wall. The metal work done to dress the architecture was defaced by more yellow paint. The offenders were able to bust into a back shed were they proceeded to ram sack and destroy the contents.
Silver lining: They weren’t able to break into the lodge. One can only imagine the mess they would’ve made of the lodge room.
It got me thinking… Whatever happened to the right to assemble? From the looks of things this was probably a bunch of disrespectful children. Yet, it’s a shame that the common rights of the people aren’t cause to stop and think about the consequences of your actions.
Hate and anger only begets hate and anger so we bare no ill wishes towards the culprits. However, we’re firm believers of truth and justice. The police report and the local law enforcement will handle it accordingly. Small lodges like these have a hard time funding out of scope projects but never underestimate a lodge that comes together for a purpose.
